Volunteering with 1st Nailsea Scouts

We rely on volunteers not only to run activities for our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, but also to help with all the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the group running.

Besides being great for our young people, volunteering can also be #GoodForYou.  It is a brilliant way to boost your mental wellbeing and it’s a great feeling knowing you’re helping young people get skills for life.  You might even learn a lot about yourself along the way!

Scouts can make you feel good in other ways too. We’ll guide you to an opportunity where you’ll:

Make friends and meet people

Try new things and challenge yourself

Get outdoors and get stuck in

Positively impact your community

Create vital opportunities for young people

Make memories that'll last a lifetime

Working with young people

Our Leaders are the beating heart of Scouting.  They spend their time delivering our programme, running section meetings and helping young people to develop #SkillsForLife.

You do not need any particular skills or experience to work with young people in Scouting, just enthusiasm!

We provide you with lots of training and support.  And since all of our volunteers work as a team, you'll you know you can always rely on support from the team when you need it.

We are looking for:

Section Leaders and Assistant Leaders

Band leaders

Section Assistants

Skills Instructors

Occasional helpers

Behind-the-scenes volunteering

We also need lots of support behind the scenes, and Scouting couldn't happen without it.  Our support team helps keep the group running, and we need volunteers to help with:

Fundraising, including helping organise Nailsea Carnival

Looking after the minibuses

Premises and equipment maintenance

Recruitment of new volunteers

Finance and administration

Being a Trustee for the charity
